Tips for Keeping Students Safe Online
At Great Minds, we are entrusted with students’ education and care deeply about their privacy when accessing Great Minds Digital Platforms.
The Great Minds Website and Great Minds Digital Platforms are compliant with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) which sets out requirements for the protection of student and parent privacy. FERPA gives parents or eligible students more control over their educational records, and it prohibits educational institutions and their vendors from disclosing “personally identifiable information in education records” without the written consent of an eligible student, or if the student is a minor, the student’s parents or a school official.
The Great Minds Website and Great Minds Digital Platforms are also compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) which was created to give parents control over what information is collected from their children online. COPPA requires websites and online services to obtain consent from parents or authorized school representatives before collecting personal information from children younger than 13. Under COPPA, parents have the right to review their child's information, delete it and refuse to permit further collection.
