What Is Clever?

Clever is Great Minds' preferred method of rostering. 

Clever is an application that streamlines district rostering and login processes across multiple systems and includes the following benefits:

• Rostering:  This is the quickest and most efficient method for districts to receive access and support. District administrators can manage and update user and roster information in their SIS that syncs to Clever, which then syncs nightly with Great Minds.

• Single Sign-On (SSO): If a district uses Clever for authentication, users can log in to Great Minds at any time using their Clever login credentials.

Onboarding Steps

1. Once you confirm you're rostering with Clever with our Technical Support Team, we will send you an invitation to our Great Minds Application via Clever. If you don’t see an invitation, you can send a request to our application.

2. When you accept the invitation, please share only schools and sections that will be utilizing our products. This can be done through Clever sharing rules. 

3. When we see your district as launched and you're sharing data with us, we will complete your onboarding. 

4. Your designated Digital Administrator will receive an email when your onboarding is complete.

 

Required Data for Clever Sharing

District	name
School	name
Student	grade name (first, last) district schools student id Supported characters: alphanumeric and underscore. Cannot contain spaces.
Teacher, School Admin, District Admin	email username uppercase (A-Z) and lowercase (a-z) letters numbers (0-9) and supported characters: + = , . @ and -. ) name (first, last) teacher/staff Id (see sis_id section below)
User sis_id's	sis_id maps to Student ID, Teacher ID, and Staff ID in Clever sis_id's for users are required and must: Be unique in your district for all user roles Should never be changed Should never be reused for different users Only contain alphanumeric characters and underscore (no spaces) If you need to change a user's sis_id or reuse a sis_id (not recommended) please contact your Digital Implementation Specialist to work with them to implement this change.

Clever User Roles

User roles must be assigned in Clever for rosters to sync into Great Minds. Clever offers different role types based on what type of permissions and access each user requires. For more information on user roles in Clever, see these Clever resources:

We recommend assigning custom staff the Portal Access Only role. With this role, users will only have access to the applications that have been shared with them on a district level. See this Clever resource for more information: School Tech Lead vs. Portal Only Permissions

Multi-Role Users

Great Minds now supports multi-role users within our digital platform. This function is for users that need both teacher and administrator access. Students cannot be multi-role users.  Either using your SIS import or Custom Data through Clever, a user needs two roles and will need to be rostered as two separate users with the following information:

• Each entry must have different sis_ids.
• Each entry needs to be the same email.
• Each entry has different roles.
• Each role should link to the same Clever User ID.
