Deep Linking

This article explains how to utilize Deep Linking for Great Minds Affirm® assessments within your Learning Management System (LMS).

Deep Linking is the process of deploying a deep link to a specific content item into a Learning Management System (LMS). Once deployed, users in the LMS can click the deep link and navigate directly to the correct experience for that resource in Great Minds without taking additional login or navigational steps.

Prerequisites

• Deep Linking is only available for Wit and Wisdom Affirm and Eureka Math Affirm.
• Deep Linking requires additional setup before teachers can use it. Administrators must complete the configuration steps for your LMS: Canvas | Schoology
• Deep Linking requires your district to be fully rostered within Great Minds prior to utilizing this feature.
• Deep Linking requires your LMS course to be successfully paired with your Great Minds class. If you have not yet paired your class, follow these instructions first: Pair Class
• Deep Linking requires the use of Cookies. When using private or incognito browsing modes, users may have to adjust cookie settings to launch deep linked assessments. 

Affirm Definitions

• Creating or assigning an assessment is the act of scheduling the assessment for students to complete. 
• Deploying content is the act of linking that scheduled assessment to your LMS so that students can access the assessment from their LMS. 

Deploy Content

In order to deploy content, the LMS course must be successfully paired with a Great Minds class. Once paired, clicking the Great Minds app will launch the LTI Dashboard where teachers can choose to deploy content.

Role Required: Teacher

1. From within your LMS course, click the Great Minds app/link.* 

2. Click the Choose Content button.



3. On the “Deploy Content” page, teachers can select existing assessments or create assessments to deploy as deep links into their LMS.

• To deploy existing assessments, select one or more assessments from the list, and click the Deploy button.
  
  

• To create and deploy an assessment, click the Create Assessment button and proceed through the scheduling wizard. Once successfully created, return to the “Deploy Content” page, select the assessment, and click the Deploy button.
  
  
  
  

Once deployed, you will now see the assessment link(s) listed in your LMS course.

Affirm Workflow

The workflow for Affirm assessments is the same as with deep linked assessments. When teachers open an Affirm assessment from within their LMS, the status of the assessment will determine which page they see.

• Scheduled but Not Launched: The teacher will see the assessment details page with the option to launch the assessment.
• Open/Live: The teacher will see the Assessment Monitor page. 
• Ready for Review: The teacher will see the scoring/review page.
• Finished Scoring: The teacher will see the assessment report.

Important Considerations

• If there are any changes made to deployed links directly in the LMS, these changes do not transfer back to Affirm. The sync process is unidirectional from Great Minds to the LMS.
