HAR File Error: Err_blocked_by_client
If you are having trouble accessing the platform, and our Customer Support team cannot replicate the error, we may ask you to generate a HAR file to look for errors that could be caused by your browser. One error that may appear within your HAR file is: “Err_blocked_by_client”.
Locate the error captured in the HAR file:
-
Open Google’s HAR Analyzer tool: https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/har_analyzer/
-
Click the Choose File button and select the HAR file that was generated. This will load everything captured by the browser console.
-
At the top, to get a better line by line view, change to All Entries.
-
Scroll through all items looking for red error codes. Errors will often appear near the bottom of the file.
-
Select the line with the error and information will populate in the right side panel.
-
Select the Response tab on the right side
-
In the ’Chrome Error’ section, you can locate the specific error that occurred.
The Err_blocked_by_client error is commonly caused by one of two issues within the browser:
-
Browser Extensions: A browser extension, such as an ad-blocker, may be interfering with how the webpage is loading.
-
Firewall: A district or school-wide firewall may be blocking one of the sites needed for our platform to load correctly.
Since the error did not occur with our platform, but with your specific browser, this error is not resolved on our end. However, we will assist you with troubleshooting the issue. Here are some steps you can use to troubleshoot this error:
Step 1: Access digital.greatminds.org in an incognito window in Chrome.
-
Click the three dots in the top right corner of your browser window.
-
Select New Incognito Window.
-
Navigate to your SSO provider or digital.greatminds.org.
- Log in to your Great Minds account.
-
If you're able to log in successfully, then a browser extension may be interfering with your access.
Step 2: Turn off any browser extensions in a regular window in Chrome.
-
Click the Extensions icon at the top right corner of your browser window.
-
If any extensions are there, try disabling them one-by-one, until you find the extension that is blocking your access to the platform. This extension will need to be off or configured to allow the sites it's blocking, if possible. If you don't disable the extension, you'll need to use an Incognito window every time you access Great Minds.
Step 3: Ensure that your district or school’s firewall is not blocking access to Great Minds.
If disabling browser extensions did not resolve your issue, contact your district or school’s IT team and ensure that the sites listed in our Firewall Safelist are in your district’s “allowed sites” list.
