Extract a Compressed File (zip or gzip)

1. Locate the zipped folder from which you want to extract (unzip) files. Compressed files may end with different file extensions such as .zip or .gz.

2. Right click on the file, select an Open with option. Windows should by default include “Extract all.” To use 7-Zip, highlight it from this menu and click Extract to “Folder name.”

  • For example, em-summary-report.csv.gz would be extracted to em-summary-report.csv.
  • To extract zip files on Apple computers, double click on them

3. A folder will be created which will contain the extracted files.
