Interpret Student Sync Reports

This article explains how to access and interpret student sync reports.

Role Required: District Administrator or School Administrator

This feature is for Self-Serve Rostering customers only.

Download Student Sync Report

If your student upload file encountered any errors during processing, you can download a sync report to review those errors.

1. Navigate to the Manage page in your administrator account.

2. If your account is associated with more than one school, select the Schools icon. Then select the school where your upload was performed.

3. Select the Students icon.

Students icon on the Manage dashboard

4. If an upload status banner is still present at the top of the page, you can download the sync report by selecting sync report

5. If the status banner is no longer present, click the Options button and select View File Upload Status from the drop-down menu.

Options-View-File-Upload-Status-Students

6. Select sync report next to the desired upload.

7. The File Upload Status modal includes additional information about the last 10 uploads performed, including:

  • Uploaded File: The original file you uploaded.
  • Sync Status: The current status of the sync (Note: You may need to refresh this page to see updates for syncs in progress).
  • Completion Date: The date and time the sync completed.
  • Sync Report: If the sync encountered any errors during processing, a sync report will be generated. Click the sync report link to download a copy of the report.

View Student Sync Report

On the downloaded sync report, you'll see which users were not created and why they could not be created. Each sync report will contain the following columns:

  • Row Number: The row number in your file where the error occurred
  • sourcedId: The Student ID of the affected student
  • Column Name: The name of the column where the error occurred
  • Error: A description of the error

If a user has multiple errors, you'll see multiple error rows for that user which identify each individual error.

You can use this information to identify and resolve errors in your student upload file. Once you have resolved the identified errors, try uploading your file again. If you experience any issues or have additional questions, submit a support ticket or contact your Digital Implementation Specialist.
