Slide Presentation Tips
In an effort to provide more flexibility and customization options, lesson slides are now provided as editable and downloadable PowerPoint (.pptx) files.
Here are the options we recommend for presenting lesson slides:
📣 The in-platform PowerPoint previewer now supports animations. See the presentation tips below for more information.
Present Slides in the Platform
⚠️ Users are currently unable to advance slides using a keyboard or clicker. We are working with Microsoft to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, you can navigate through a presentation using the forward and back arrows at the bottom of the screen. You can advance in-slide animations by clicking inside of the slide.
Great Minds now utilizes Microsoft's online PowerPoint previewer. The previewer supports in-platform slide animations and improved keyboard and clicker navigation. Teachers can now advance slides and trigger animations using a mouse, a clicker, or a keyboard. Teachers can also present slides in full screen mode.
To use a clicker or keyboard to advance slides or animations, first click once on the slide frame and use a clicker or arrow keys to move through the presentation.
To access Presenter Notes and/or annotate the slides, please download the file and open with PowerPoint or upload the file to Google Slides.
PowerPoint
To present slides using Microsoft PowerPoint:
- Download the PowerPoint file from the platform.
- Open the downloaded file.
- Present the slides in presentation mode.
Slides must be in presentation modes for animations to display correctly.

If you do not have the PowerPoint desktop application, there are a few ways to utilize the web version of PowerPoint:
- Educators can sign up for a FREE Office 365 account using their school or district email address to utilize the web version of PowerPoint. Your school may need to be verified as an eligible institution in order to utilize this option.
- If you're unable to sign up for an educator account, you can create a free Microsoft Live account using a personal email address.
Google Slides
PowerPoint files can be imported to Google Drive, and then presented using Google Slides.
Import Slides to Google Drive
- Download the PowerPoint file to your device.
- Upload the file to your Google Drive.
- To convert the PowerPoint file to Google Slides format, open the File menu and select Save as Google Slides.

Present from Google Slides
To present in Google Slides, click the Slideshow button at the top right. See Google's slide presentation tutorial for more information on presenting in Google Slides.
For animations to display correctly, slides must be in presentation mode.
